Home Workout For Busy Moms

As a mum, you probably struggle to find the time for fitness. Even if you want to work out, you might not know where to start.

How to Motivate to Workout as a Busy Mum

By starting to look at your week as a whole in a calendar, first identify the essential tasks and slot them into the daily calendar. Then identify the tasks which could be joined together. Such as could a trip to the store be slotted into a time whilst your kids are at a soccer match?

Then identify pockets of time that you could slot in your home workout for busy mums. You will probably notice that you’re putting your mum’s fitness and wellbeing needs at the bottom of the pile, and there is always something else that needs to be done first.

Acquiring a wall or personal calendar will work wonders for keeping track. Online calendars such as Google calendars will allow you to change the colors of different events, which will pop up on your mobile.

How Fitness, Wellness, and Mental Health are Inter-related

Instead of having a coffee first thing, grab some ice cold water and drink at least a pint. This provides an instant wake-up boost. Starting the day with the mindset, you will get up early to get things done puts the feeling of motivation and value around the day. Doing a morning home workout for busy mums energizes you for the day, gives you a sense of accomplishment, and gets you kick-started to be more productive.

Get Your Children Involved

Children are a bundle of energy, and they LOVE doing fun things, so why not make it fun for you too and add your fitness into the mix? Enjoying a mum and toddler’s fitness session just sounds like a lot of fun.

Whether you decide to make it a dance competition, play tag, or football, anything to get you moving will do the job. If you’ve decided to go to a gym, you can always choose one with a childcare setting in the same building!

This works great for parents who don’t have time to work out and don’t have much help. If you go to bed at the same time as your children, you’ll have more energy and feel more rejuvenated in the morning, which is the perfect timing for your morning workout.

Use What You’ve Got

If you’re using bags of sugar, wooden box or filled water bottles, then use them. I have bought expensive gym equipment and still find myself using the basic things to fit around my day at a desk. They have a far greater impact on your exercise routine, too.

Realistically, all you need to get started is a yoga mat. YouTube and Netflix have some great workout routines. Many free apps incorporate bodyweight exercises, pilates, yoga, core workouts, and interval training.

You can use a chair for tricep dips, a rope as a suspension trainer, a hand towel as a slider, a backpack full of heavier items as a weighted vest, a basketball to create harder pushups on your stairs as a cardio machine.

Sometimes, there aren’t enough hours in the day. So, it’s always best to learn some quick 15 minute home workouts for busy mums that you can do without wasting too much time.

If you have a busy schedule and have a 30-minute break, crack on with a workout. It doesn’t have to be intense; just a 15-minute yoga or pilate workout will do just fine.

Find What You Love And DO IT

There is absolutely no point in doing workouts that you don’t enjoy. Find something you enjoy – dancing, swimming, walking.

If you can find one routine or one exercise that you LOVE, then you’ve already won. You’ll look forward to it more, and you’ll remain motivated. If you begin to become bored with that workout, then find something else.

Why Fitness is Achieved, Not Received

The healthier you are on the outside, the stronger you are on the inside. Not everything goes to plan, so be flexible and not too hard on yourself if things don’t go as planned. There is always tomorrow to pick things back up again.

Achievements are things that happen over time. That’s why you cannot receive the best of health because it’s not something that can be perfected overnight. However, with consistent work and determination, you will see your dream come true.
